«One country, one line»

Direttissima Switzerland

Straight across Switzerland

fter numerous adventures across the globe, I felt the urge to explore my own home country. In the summer of 2017, I crossed Switzerland on a straight path - from border stone no. 33 at the French border to the Stelvio Pass in the east. No matter how - I never strayed more than a few hundred metres from Kilometer 1160.

Direttissima Switzerland 1983

Direttissima Switzerland 1983

The idea of the Direttissima came from a group of alpinists under Markus Liechti, who tackled the project in the summer of 1983. They had asked themselves where a straight path through the middle of Switzerland would take them if they were to strictly follow this line. This simple idea is captivating. What does your own country have to offer if looked at from a different perspective? I can hardly wait to see how Switzerland has changed throughout the years on my Repetition Tour and am looking forward to all kinds of adventure and experiences along Kilometer 1160.
